I've been writing a bit about Tim Jackson lately, but I am really finding his ideas compelling. I suspect I am not alone in this, but am very willing to hear another side of the story... please let me know what you think.
Tim Jackson, in his paper 'Prosperity Without Growth' sets a challence for us all when he describes the very simple dilema we have set ourselves with our supposed macro-economic sophistication. Our banking, finance, micro and macro economic systems are all predicated on the idea of unlimited growth. We live in a finite system (AKA planet earth). Unlimited growth in a limited system leads to collapse. Pretty simple really.
Our challenge of course is to disentangle our idea of well-being, prosperity and purpose form the idea of non-stop growth, accumulation, 'more-more-more', 'too-much-is-not-enough'.
We need a different set of systems.

This video was created as part of Venessa Miemis' presentation at the SIBOS Conference in Amsterdam, 25 October 2010. The interviews were conducted with participants in America, England, Sweden, Mexico, Germany and Thailand via video Skype calls from Berlin, Germany.
